nome vem de uma palmeira típica da região. que abundava
naquele lado da península. Há pouco mais de dez anos.
Geribá era uma imensa praia deserta, com mais de dois
quilômetros de extensão. de onde se via as ilhas de Merências.
Breu, Papagaios. Branca e dos Pargos - pesqueiros ricos em
sardas, cavalas e serro; conhecidos há muito dos
pescadores.
Em
pouco tempo, tornou-se a praia mais freqüentada de Búzios,
o local das maiores badalações. Gente de todo mundo se
encontra em suas areias finas e nos 23 quiosques
especializados em frutos do mar, com garçons vindos de
toda parte do mundo. Ali se reúne a moçada de Búzios.
acontecem os campeonatos de surf e de windsurf. As ondas
que se formam há 200 metros da praia chegam a atingir
quatro metros de altura.
Gente
bela e famosa de todo o mundo passeia pela praia, cercada
pelo Morro do Marista. onde fica o Beach Club e várias
mansões, entre elas a de Renato Gaúcho. Do outro lado,
há o Condomínio da Ferradurinha. onde também só
existem mansões. A praia é boa também para banho. Com
larga faixa de areia fina. é palco de festas como a de
Reveillon, com queima de fogos de artifícios. Ali,
algumas casinhas de pescadores convivem com mansões.

The
names comes from a typical paim tree which is very common
in that side of the peninsula. About tem years ago, Geribá
was a large desert beach with more than two kilometers in
extension from where one could see Merências islands,
Breu, Papagaios, Branca and dos Pargos (islands) —
exotic fish could
be found there and were very well known by the fishermen.
ln little time this beach has become on of the busiest in
Búzios, the best place to hang out. People from ali over
the world meets in its fínd sands and in the 23 kiosks,
specialized in seafood, with
waiters who come from many different parts of the world.
The youth of Búzios gathers there, there are
championships of surf and windsurf. The waves form 200
meters from the beach and get to be up to four meters high.
Beautiful and famous people from alI over the world
strolls around that beach surrounded by the Marista HilI
where there is also Beach Club and plenty of mansions,
amongst them Renato Gaúcho’s (he is a famous Brazilian
soccer player). On the other side is condomínio da
Ferradurinha, where there are only mansions. The beach is
also good for bathing. With a large strip of fine sand it
is the stage for parties such as the New Year’s Eve
party with plenty of tire crackers. There, some little
fishermen houses get along well with the mansions. The
access to the beach is being improved for the summer.
